A 6.4kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), offering a nominal torque of 45Nm and a peak torque output of 228Nm, powers the Okaya Ferrato Disruptor.
Okaya, the popular battery maker, has launched an electric motorcycle in India after briefly entering the electric two-wheeler market a few years ago. The brand-new model, the Disruptor, is the first product released under Okaya EV’s new “Ferrato” sub-brand. It carries an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 1.60 lakh. The available colour options for the EV include Inferno Red, Midnight Shine, and Thunder Blue. Moreover, Okaya claims that the running cost of the model stands at Rs 25 paise per km. The company is further planning to debut another e-bike and scooter this year.
Commenting on the launch, Anshul Gupta, Managing Director of Okaya EV, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, ‘We are excited to introduce the Disruptor, under the banner of Ferrato, to Indian bike enthusiasts who are eager to experience the power of EVs. With its groundbreaking technology, exhilarating performance, and sporty design, the Disruptor aligns perfectly with changing the road landscape to lead the way in providing innovative and sustainable mobility solutions.’ According to the company, the deliveries of the new Disruptor will commence by August this year.
Okaya Ferrato Disruptor: Mechanical Specifications
A 6.4kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), offering a nominal torque of 45Nm and a peak torque output of 228Nm, powers the Disruptor. Meanwhile, the maximum power output delivered by the e-bike is 8.54bhp. According to Ferrato, this motorcycle can reach a top speed of 95km/h.
For everyday city commuting, the fixed battery pack’s (3.97kWh) 129 km riding range on a single charge should be plenty. It can be fully charged from 0% to 100% in five hours, according to the company. The battery comes with a three-year, or 30,000-km warranty, whichever is earlier. Three more riding modes are available for the e-bike: eco, city, and sports. A switch on the handlebar can be used to toggle between these riding modes.
Okaya Ferrato Disruptor: Hardware
On the hardware front, the monoshock and telescopic fork provide ideal handling in a range of road conditions. Despite having disc brakes on both ends, a combi-brake system (CBS) is used to make up for the lack of anti-lock brakes (ABS) for increased safety. The Disruptor, which rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, has a spacious onboard storage capacity of 16 litres.
